Scope Australia was appointed to undertake engineering, cost estimating and planning services in support of Hexagon Resources’ McIntosh Graphite Project, comprising a tenement package covering an area of 330sqkm located in the East Kimberley region of Western Australia. The project is a greenfield high-purity graphite resource which will supply spherical graphite to key high-quality battery manufacturing companies.
Scope Australia’s remit covered the full process plant and balance of plant infrastructure, with key activities including:
– Metallurgical test work review
– Flowsheet review and optimisation
– Process plant engineering
– Balance of plant engineering
– Project power supply system
– Tailings storage facility
– CAPEX and OPEX development
– Project scheduling
– Technical and commercial input into the composite PFS report (final report compiled by Hexagon Resources)
The ore metallurgical properties allow for high quality/purity graphite concentrates with easy access to an established product logistics solution.
The ore processing comprises:
– Three stage crushing followed by single stage ball milling (closed circuit)
– Rougher/scavenger flotation circuit with an open circuit regrind of rougher concentrate
– Cleaner flotation followed by a second stage regrind and re-cleaner flotation
– Production of graphite concentrate through dewatering and drying
